Hey! Thanks a lot for this helpful video. By the way, I notice lots of people keep on talking about Golfonax Training Program (search on google), but I’m not sure if it is really good. Have you ever tried this golf program known as Golfonax Training Program? I’ve heard some unbelivable things about it.
Hello! Thank you for this helpful video. By the way, I hear a lot of people keep on talking about Golfonax Training Program (do a search on google), but I’m not sure if it is good. Have you thought about this golf training called Golfonax Training Program? I have heard many great things about it.
Keep in mind, Mike is answering a specific question for a specific user. There are so many variations of swings, there is no way one answer can work for everyone. If you want advice specific you, visit a golf pro near you and let that person analyze your specific swing.
If I’m not mistaken, Mike Breed’s “hanger drill” conflicts with Martin Hall’s “extended right index finger on the shaft drill” to achieve a more verticle shaft in the takeaway. There in lies the problem with golf instruction….conflicting advice from different instructors.
You are yelling
well said!
Amateur golfers who start worrying about one and two planes tend to get very confused. I’ve seen quite a number of players that come for lessons after having watched Jim Hardie’s dvd’s and have completely misinterpreted the golf swing. Video has set the golf swing back 100 years.
That’s why Freddie and Nick are pros. They found what works for them. But for most players getting the swing plane to steep going back is bad news.

Golf tool for more backspin….
Spin the ball like a pro!!!!
What about the shanks?
man – truer words have never been spoken…well said
Well I couldn’t agree with you more,,golf instruction is a multi million dollar business,,and for the most part one pro contradicts the other.
There are more hokey pokey gimmicks and ” magical devices to fix your golf swing ” in this sport that any other,,ask the TV analyst Roger Maltbie.
Maltbie would attach his name to any piece of crap in the golf industry ( as long as they pay him of course ).
To say the weekend golfer gets confused is an understatement.
What Michael Breed and MOST “golf instructors” fail to do is to clearly differentiate what works for a “ONE” plane swing and what works with a “TWO” plane swing. What Mr. Breed is showing in this video is a ONE plane swing. This might work for Matt Kutcher’s ONE plane swing but not Fred Couples’ TWO plane swing. Apples and oranges. Historically all of the golf instructors together with the TV expert analysts have confused the average weekend golfer. There is NO one single swing fits all.
Also, cf. Kostis’ book (possibly the best all-but-unknown book in the modern era) The Inside Path to Better golf, where he advocates a “tee drill” in which you put a tee into the hole at the end of the grip and then pay attention to where it’s aiming the way Breed here describes paying attention to where the hanger is pointing.
And in addition, see Flick’s book On Golf. Same deal with getting that butt end pointing in the right direction to ensure the right plane.
Leadbetter and Faldo covered this a long time ago. An on-plane swing is going to look laid off until the shaft gets to parallel, if it ever does. For some players who don’t take it all the way back to parallel, esp. with the irons, it’s going to look like they’re laying the club off, but they’re really not.
well this sort of works:( im sending it more now to the left.
tell that to freddy couples and nick price
Awesome tool.
Love this show. Watch it religiously every Monday.
Great tip.. I was vertical, which is bad!
nice video could if you have a chance could you check out my swing and possibly tell me some tips
26 degree shoulder tilt is needed
yeah his plane is very flat…i think he might have been exagerrating a little….
I think Michael Breed does a great job of providing quick tips and fixes for golfers in such a short amount of time. His quick fixes though can’t fix a fault golf swing issue if other fundamentals are bad. See a good pga pro and learn about the golf swing and once you understand the fundamentals then this tips will help tremendously.
I’m sorry but I have to disagree with you. Nothing he says is either fad or gimmickie. Unfortunately, what I think you’re trying to say is that his tips are only patches unless he gets to the root cause of the issues the golfer is facing. In all honesty, I realize most of the problems faced by high handicappers are simply the result of lack of flexibility. I also agree that he could cover more advanced topics like great stuff from TGM but the viewers head would start to spin.
shouldn’t the hanger be pointing at the ball at the top of the backswing? if it’s pointing over the ball the plane is too flat.
Your’re an awesome coach
Nice video Reggie
