  1. Also, hitting down on the ball with irons, for me, helps promote a forward shaft lean at impact which de-lofts the club-face and adds distance.

  2. Typically, the more you hit down on the ball, the more spin there is that gets put on it. My last round I played not too long ago, I had a 170 yard par 3. My 7-iron was broken (broken shaft), so I took a 6-iron. I have made huge swing changes over the summer so I now hit down a lot, resulting in decently semi-deep divots after the ball. Point being, my 6-iron landed on the green, which is relatively flat, left a ball mark and stopped about a foot forward of it.

  3. before watching this video I already applied this exact drill to my golf swing however I have trouble controlling the distances when I use this swing. however.. I tend to hit the ball too high with my wedges and 9 iron. I feel like I only have control of height and spin with the weight forward but normal there is no way of getting it to spin as it just falls from the sky. any tips?

  4. Its dependent on the pureness of the strike as well as the amount of speed you have going through the golf ball. So if you strike the ball flush with plenty of speed you should be able to spin it or even zip it off. Hope that helps

  5. Hey Mark thanks for the drill I tried it the last couple days and it help a lot!! The only thing is my sand wedge I am shanking every once and a while but my other wedges I am not so I don’t know what to do Is their any way you could help me!!

  6. Something to maybe add to the drill is to put another ball in line with the one you are hitting so that after you have hit it you can see where the divot starts. Helps to see how well you’re coming down on the ball. Great drill idea though, will be trying that one!

  7. Why do pros hit the ball higher with there long irons if they will get more backspin if the ball is back in their stance oppose to forward(creating a shallow swing with more height)??

  8. I’ve been perusing through youtube looking for some simple tips, and yours seem to have a simple yet effective touch to them. I look forward to going through all of them.

  9. Good tip.
I know their is a different swing for drivers but master and use both of them at once.
This constant change of my swing-plane is making me crazy…

  10. Please could you do a vid on a drill for lagging the irons. I’m really struggling with flipping the irons hence not getting ball ground impact. Thanks

  11. It still surprise me, how a lot of people do not know about Golfonax Training Program (just google it), even though many people improve their golf skills with this training program. Thanks to my buddy who told me about Golfonax Training Program, I’ve improve the weakest part of my golf game.

  12. This is one of the best videos on youtube for learning distance. I started playing almost a year ago last febuary and cause of this video I can through about 450 feet. Its not 700+ but I can keep up with most people on the course. there are four parts of this video that are very important to distance: 1:08 the grip – 3:09 using your body – 4:52 arm speed – 6:42 use of a towl

  13. Its still surprise me, how some people are not aware about Golfonax Training Program (google it), despite the fact that lots of people improve their golf skills with this training program. Thanks to my friend who told me about Golfonax Training Program, I’ve become a better golfer.

  14. Without getting all flame-y, ele7en1, you’re just plain wrong. Given that a disc does not hit the ground before it flexes back out to fade, it will *always* fade. Turnover shots are nothing more than turns that run out of height. You can throw an understable disc literally vertically off of a mountain, and it will eventually turn back over counterclockwise (for a RHBH throw) and fade back left, provided it doesn’t hit the ground first.

  15. please tell me you’re not really that ignorant. How you throw the disc has EVERYTHING to do with how it flies. Yes you are correct that throwing a very understable disc on an anyhyzer probably wont come back assuming you are a decent player, but throwing that same disc on a good sized hyzer and i guarantee it will level out and fade left

  16. It’s nothing to do with how I throw anything. It’s everything to do with how discs actually work. An understable disc thrown anhyzer will tend to hold that angle. Give it enough rotation and it won’t ever actually fade left.

  17. I disagree completely, my statement was 100% true, just because YOU personally are not at a great enough altitude for the disc to stand up and fade left does NOT mean it wont, it simply means just that it didn’t have enough time… the fact that Dion’s disc didn’t “appear to to flatten out” was simply that it wasn’t above ground long enough (this time because he threw UPHILL and came in contact with the ground)

  18. Each disc has a critical trajectory where it will continue to turn right no matter how much time it’s given. You can attribute it mostly to speed, angle, pitch and spin. So with a disc like the Nuke, if you give it massive spin, then even a small anhyzer angle can send it irrecoverably to the right. That said, it did look like the the disc was beginning to flatten out at 0:53 so it’s hard to tell where it would ultimately go.

  19. Read what he said please, EVERY disc will finish LEFT if given enough time in the air. the reason at 53 seconds it didn’t finish left is because it didn’t have enough time, watch every other shot with the same disc and watch them finish left…

  20. thats exactly what this guy is going is releasing an understable disc hyzer which is why it goes way left and finishes right

  21. My grip is a lot like dion, I just notice that and it give a lot more of my body involved in the shot, and is very comfortable for me

  22. I met Dion the other day–great guy! It was nice to meet a pro who didn’t have a big head and attitude. I saw him throw some bombs too. Keep up the good work, man!

  23. @Imgetnswole22 I’m guess they did come out with the Esp Nuke OS this year. They were selling them at the memorial this year as a fundraiser disc. My mistake

  24. @Imgetnswole22 I am very aware of what type of plastic esp is. Since you are so aware of such things please post a link where I can find an “esp” Nuke OS. Because I am very sure they have never released a nuke OS in that plastic. The only plastic that the nuke OS has been released in is Z plastic. Thanks

  25. @websterk

Yes he said ESP nuke os. ESP refers to the plastic type, not the type or name of the disc. You were unaware and now are aware ;)

  26. a disc thrown backhand (by a right-handed person) will always fade left at the end of flight. Understable means that it will turnover to the right and then fade left once it slows. Also, his definition of understable is different from ours since he can throw 700+ feet and I’m assuming you can’t (you’re just not a world champion distance thrower).

  27. An understable disc does fade right however because he throws backhand he imparts a spin on the disc which forces it to go left. For example: if you throw a Buzz a really straight flying disc backhand at the end of its flight it will go left. if you throw the buzz forehand or flicking it, it will go right at the end. that is all due to the spin of the disc. the reason he uses an understable disc is that during its flight it has the potential to stay in the air longer. b/c of how it behaves.
